The SlackTech Highline Leash Kit v2 has the all the components necessary to keep you safely connected to your highline. The leash is comprised of 8 ft of 9.9 mm Dynamic rope threaded inside a finely woven 11/16" tubular nylon webbing. The leash is tied to the body with a figure 8 knot and connected to the machined aluminum ring with a sewn splice. The SlackTech Highline Leash Kit v2 is designed to meet the rigors of repeated highlining.
Dynamic rope threaded inside tubular webbing creates a leash that is highly abrasion resistant and slightly stiffer than dynamic rope alone. This, in combination with a light weight ring makes for a more stable leash ring movement while walking because the ring is less prone to whipping around. We swapped out the figure 8 knot at the ring to increase the rope strength retention bringing it closer to 90% rather than 50% like the figure 8 knot. The threaded leash also provides a more friendly experience while leash climbing after that big whip; it's soft on both your hands and your feet!
The machined ring provide huge security when out in the middle of your highline. There are no seams, burs or welds in these rings, just pure strength! Additionally, the wider contact surface area aids in preventing the leash from sliding forward during a down-slope and hitting your heels (so does the removal of that massive figure 8 knot).
When tying into your harness it is recommended that you use a backed up to your figure 8 knot. The 8 ft leash provides enough length for the figure 8 knot to have an overhand backup knot tied for safety. ALWAYS double and triple check your knots! Make sure they are tied correctly!
